Support Local Hospitality, While Staying Home

One of the major casualties of Covid-19 is of course the tourism and hospitality sectors. It takes years and years of hard work, determination and hustle to build a successful business in the industry.

To wake up one morning and have your years of hard work taken away from you, is nothing short of heart breaking.

With very little happening to ease this pain in the foreseeable future, the outlook is tough for your favourite bars, restaurants and activities across Aotearoa. Once we reach level 2, the pain these businesses are enduring won’t be over. The culture of going to a crowded restaurant or thriving bar with a group of friends will remain a thing of the past. Capacities will be restricted as social distancing is here to stay.

To return some hope and much needed financial relief to an industry that’s crying out, Hancocks Wine, Spirt & Beer Merchants, a 100% NZ family-owned and operated distributor, have teamed up to support some local hospitality groups that they normally supply, to help keep their businesses afloat.

The program is simple, each establishment is set up with their own unique passcode, which they provide to their customers. Each time their customer uses that code to order, the establishment is paid 10 percent of the order value.

There are benefits for the customers and the establishment and every little bit helps.

Their customers get the wines, spirits and beer they would normally enjoy at the establishment delivered directly to their door, knowing that a chunk of the profits go directly to keeping that establishment afloat.

The establishment earns much needed cashflow to help them keep their door open and staff employed. More importantly, they do this without the need to increase their overheads. It’s a win-win for them.

While we don’t yet know for certain what the post-Covid era will look like, now more than ever we need to band together to get through these uncharted waters.
