Have you heard of the Slow Boat Barber?

1941, Auckland, NZ
During World War 2, a strapping young kiwi lad called Earnest James boarded a slow boat destined for Egypt, with hundreds of fellow soldiers.
A barber by trade, Earnest soon recognised the need for an on-board barber to maintain moral. So, he set up shop and kept his comrades looking dapper during the weeks-long voyage.
With a pioneering spirit and razor sharp wit, Earnest would often jest that “You can’t fight the fight if you look like shite”.
Sadly, Earnest didn’t return to New Zealand alive, but his story inspired the launch of Earnest Empire in 2017.
A range of fine men’s grooming essentials, each Earnest Empire product is formulated by expert cosmeticians, using the best of nature and our signature scent.
Designed with men in mind, Earnest Empire products bring back a time when looking dapper was essential to the good fight.
Take time. Take charge. Take pride.
Earnest Empire.
